PM Modi to unveil Alluri statue in Bhimavaram today

New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday left for  Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh to attend the 125th birthday celebration of freedom warrior Alluri Sitarama Raju.  On this occasion, the prime minister will also unveil an Alluri Sitarama Raju bronze statue that stands 30 feet tall.

"Leaving for Bhimavaram to attend a very special event- the legendary independence warrior Alluri Sitarama Raju's 125th birthday festivities. Alluri Sitarama Raju's bronze statue will also be unveiled. This will enhance the Azadi-Ka-Amrit Mahotsav celebrations" PM Modi said in a tweet.

The ceremony will be attended by the governor of Andhra Pradesh, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, the chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the union minister of tourism and culture, G Kishan Reddy, among others. According to Rajat Bhargava, preparations for the visit of the prime minister are well underway. He stated that while the Special Protection Group staff took care of security precautions, four helipads were being prepared.

The famed freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju's 125th birth anniversary celebration will begin at Bhimavaram at around 11 a.m., said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
