NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 on February 5, according to reliable sources.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to attend the Mela on January 27, while Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will join the celebrations on February 1.
Amit Shah’s visit on January 27 will include taking a holy dip at the Sangam, performing Ganga Puja, and holding meetings with officials. Security agencies are ramping up their efforts to ensure safety, with heightened surveillance at key locations and event venues throughout the city.
On February 1, Vice President Dhankhar will also take a holy dip at the Sangam. In addition, President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit Prayagraj on February 10, where she will take part in major events. To accommodate these high-profile visits, both administrative and security arrangements are being bolstered.
Despite dense fog in the area earlier today, large crowds of devotees gathered at the Maha Kumbh Mela, showing that the weather conditions have not deterred the pilgrims. The number of visitors is expected to rise as the event progresses, with several important Shahi Snans still to come. The Mahakumbh Mela, which began on January 13, will run until February 26.
The upcoming Shahi Snan dates are January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
According to Uttar Pradesh government data, over 1.597 million devotees took a dip at the Triveni Sangam on the ninth day of the Mahakumbh. As of January 20, more than 88.1 million people have already bathed in the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati.

Every day, millions of devotees from all over India and beyond gather in Prayagraj to immerse themselves in the holy waters of the Triveni Sangam, driven by deep faith and devotion. By the evening of January 16, over 30 million people had taken a dip in the sacred river, including 10 lakh Kalpwasis, along with saints and pilgrims from across the world.
Maha Kumbh Nagar has become a vibrant display of India's rich cultural diversity, bringing together faith and tradition in one spiritual gathering.
The number of devotees is expected to rise as more important dates for bathing are yet to come, including four major Shahi Snans.
On the very first day of the Maha Kumbh, Paush Purnima, a record-breaking 1.7 crore pilgrims bathed, and on January 14, during the Makar Sankranti Amrit Snan, an astounding 3.5 crore people immersed themselves in the waters. In just the first two days, over 5.2 crore devotees had bathed. The following day, January 15, saw 40 lakh bathers, and by the evening of January 16, another 30 lakh people joined, bringing the total to more than 7 crore.
By 6 pm on Sunday, marking the seventh day of this grand event, over 50 million pilgrims had visited the Mahakumbh Mela, with celebrations continuing to attract thousands.
