NEW DELHI: Based on the 'HIT' (Highways, Information ways and Transways) " formula for India-Nepal relations, seen in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first visit to Nepal in 2014, PM Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda set up a lot of key contracts and finalised many important decisions on Thursday. To advance cooperation in crucial areas like commerce and energy, the two presidents held high-level meetings, jointly launched a number of infrastructure projects, and signed seven agreements.Â
The PM also emphasised that the two countries would cooperate to settle any issues and raise their bilateral ties to Himalayan heights. Along with concluding agreements, Prime Minister Modi and the Prime Minister of Nepal essentially opened integrated checkpoints at Rupaidiha in India and Nepalgunj in Nepal. A goods train from Bathnaha in Bihar to the Nepali customs yard was also essentially flagged off by them.
In a statement to the media, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, often known as "Prachanda," invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Nepal in order to discuss bilateral border concerns.
I'm making my fourth trip to India. There has long been a connection between India and Nepal. We talked about ways to improve connections between the two countries today. We also jointly launched a number of ground-breaking projects, said the Nepali prime minister.
Important trade and transit pacts were also struck between India and Nepal. In his media speech, PM Modi said that the two leaders set up new rail links to increase physical connectivity. In addition, the start of the project on the Ramayana Circuit and a long-term power trade deal between India and Nepal were reviewed.
"New train connections have been constructed to improve physical connectivity. Today, India and Nepal established a long-term power trade pact. This will strengthen the power industry in both of our nations. There are extensive and enduring religious and cultural ties between India and Nepal. We have determined that projects connected to the Ramayana Circuit should be hastened in order to further enhance this, said PM Modi.
Together, the two leaders unveiled the railway's Kurtha-Bijalpura section's electronic plaque and signalled the departure of an Indian Railway cargo train from Bathnaha to the Nepal Custom Yard.
