New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Twitter account has been hacked and the government is now in action after the account is hacked. Now efforts are on to find out who hacked the account? The government is using the latest technology to investigate. Sources close to the case say that CERT-IN have been engaged in the work and are trying to ascertain the source of the hacking. Sources also say that the central government is working to find out who was behind the hacking. The government is said to have engaged the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN team).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official Twitter handle was hacked late @narendramodi night under the information received. At 2.11 pm, it tweeted a tweet claiming, 'India has officially legalised Bitcoin and the government is also distributing 500 bitcoins to the people.'

Two minutes later, the tweet was deleted and then another similar tweet was tweeted at 2.14 pm. The tweet was also deleted after some time, but by then the screenshots had gone viral. Then, at 3.18 pm, the PMO tweeted that 'PM Narendra Modi's Twitter handle was tampered with, which has now been corrected and the matter has been reported to Twitter.' At the same time, the PMO said that whatever tweets were tweeted during this period should be ignored.
