Gandhinagar: During the 'Semicon India Conference 2023' in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm invitation to global semiconductor giants, urging them to invest in India and secure a coveted "first mover's advantage."

Addressing the gathering of investors, PM Modi emphasized the need to cultivate a thriving chip-making ecosystem in India, highlighting the exceptional opportunities for those who step forward early in this endeavor.

The theme of the conference, "Catalysing India's Semiconductor Ecosystem," aimed to unite industry leaders, academics, and research institutions from across the globe. It provided a platform to showcase India's ambitious semiconductor strategy and policies, envisioning the nation as a worldwide hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development.

PM Modi underscored India's emergence as a reliable partner in the global chip supply chain. He emphasized that the world now seeks a trustworthy and dependable chip supplier, and India, as the world's largest democracy, stands as an obvious candidate for that role.

The Prime Minister pointed out that India's credibility stems from its stable, responsible, and reform-oriented government, earning increasing trust from nations worldwide. He praised the Indian population for its tech-friendly nature, fast adoption of technology, and the growing data consumption fueled by accessible digital infrastructure, quality connectivity, and affordable data in rural areas. India's aspirations and innovative drive are propelling its growth and influence in the semiconductor industry.

The conference witnessed active participation from major corporations like Micron Technology, Applied Materials, Foxconn, SEMI, AMD, among others, further highlighting India's attractiveness as a potential investment destination for semiconductor companies. With an open invitation and a promising ecosystem, India aims to solidify its position as a global leader in semiconductor technologies.
