Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his criticism of the Congress party while campaigning in Maharashtra, where he emphasized the importance of unity with the slogan, "Ek hai toh safe hai" (Together, we are safe). Addressing voters in Akola, Modi accused Congress of intentionally creating divisions among castes, weakening the nation in the process.

Modi stated that Congress gains power when the country is weakened, claiming the party has historically divided castes instead of uniting them. He warned that Congress seeks to exploit a fragmented society, and urged citizens to recognize this strategy, stating, "This is their conspiracy and character. You have to stay aware. Remember, 'Ek hai toh safe hai.'"

The prime minister also criticized the Congress's connection with the Gandhi family, alleging that states governed by Congress, such as Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, serve as “ATMs” for the “royal family.” He cited an alleged incident in Maharashtra, claiming Congress siphoned off ₹700 crore from liquor vendors in Karnataka under the pretext of election preparations.

Modi further credited Maharashtra’s consistent support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2014 to the people’s trust in the party’s values of patriotism, political acumen, and long-term vision. "There is a reason behind Maharashtra's trust in the BJP. The reason for this is the patriotism, political understanding, and vision of the people of Maharashtra," he said.

Modi’s campaign tour included rallies in Dhule and Nashik, where he reiterated that Congress’s agenda revolves around dividing castes, preventing marginalized communities like SCs, STs, and OBCs from advancing. He urged the public to stay united, saying, “Remember, ek hai toh safe hai.”

Maharashtra will go to the polls on November 20, with vote counting set for November 23. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party, winning 105 of the 288 Assembly seats.
