PM Modi US visit Updates: PM departs from New Delhi to US

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, September 22,  departed for a key visit to the United States, during which he will attend the multiple programmes-  the first in-person Quad summit, and also address the United Nations General Assembly.

 During the three day-visit, Modi will be escorted by a high-level delegation that would comprise the external affairs minister (EAM) S Jaishankar and national security advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.

 Before departing for the united states, PM Modi said -  “During my visit to US from September 22-25, I will review the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with President Joe Biden and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” “My visit to US would be an occasion to strengthen the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with US, consolidate relations with our strategic partners – Japan and Australia – and take forward our collaboration on important global issues,” he said before departing for US.

Stating that he will address the UNGA focusing on global challenges including Covid-19, need to combat terrorism and climate change, PM Modi said that his primary focus would be to “take forward our collaboration on important global issues”.
