PM Modi will address UN for the first time after India's victory in UNSC

New Delhi: PM Modi will address the United Nations (UN) today. PM Modi's address will be at an event held in New York on the eve of the 75th anniversary of United Nations. This will be PM Modi's first address after becoming a temporary member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). PM Modi will give this address through videoconferencing.

PM Modi will address in an annual high-level segment of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESC) session. PM Modi will address New York-based United Nations between 9.30 am and 11.30 am (local time). He will present his side to the concluding session with Norway's PM and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. PM Modi had earlier addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September last year. PM Modi then called on the international community to unite against terrorism.

Let us tell you that India has been elected a non-permanent member of the Security Council for two years. In favor of India, 184 out of total 192 votes were cast. India's last term was to end on January 1, 2021. America, Britain, France, Russia and China are permanent members of the Security Council. In addition, there are 10 non-permanent members. Half of it is elected every year for two years.
