New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi will announce the nationwide launch of the Prime Minister's Digital Health Mission (PM-DHM) on Monday. The scheme has been renamed. Earlier it was called the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM). Officials say that PM-DHM provides universal health coverage in an efficient, accessible, inclusive, affordable and secure manner through a wide range of data, information and infrastructure services.
Officials also informed that the digital health ID provided to individuals under PM-DHM will have a health record of the people. A health ID card is created with Aadhaar and phone number-like details to create a special ID for each person. The Mission is on track and 3 basic platforms - Health ID, Doctor Registration and Registration of Health Centres have been started.
On May 27, Prime Minister Modi held a high level meeting to review the progress of the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) and said that the scheme will simplify the lives of individuals. The PM had ordered speedy steps to expand functioning under the NDHM and said that the importance of this forum will be seen by the citizens when they get the benefit of all the services they get under it. PM Modi in his address to the nation on the occasion of Independence Day last year announced the launch of NDHM.
