New Delhi: In third phase of voting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived to vote in a polling booth in Gujarat's Ahmedabad this morning, riding in an open SUV instead of a his regulation bullet-proof vehicle, waving at huge crowds lining the streets. In what looked like a mini-roadshow, the open jeep drove in slowly. Surrounded by his bodyguards, PM Modi waved and folded his hands at people. BJP president Amit Shah and his family were present too. PM Modi was seen taking a little child in his arms and again waving at the crowds, before walking into the polling booth.

After casting his vote, the Prime Minister displayed his inked finger and walked on the streets in a procession along with the party candidate in Ahmedabad East, HasmukhBhai Somabhai Patel, with BJP flags and banners lining the streets.On Tuesday, voting started across 117 Lok Sabha seats spread over 13 states and 2 Union Territories. People in 13 states and two Union Territories have started to queue up to cast their ballots in Phase 3 of election 2019. Voting also kicked off in Tripura East, which was scheduled to take place in Phase 2 of polling on April 18;

However, the Election Commission had deferred it to the third phase citing security concerns. A picture showing PM Narendra Modi seeking his mother's blessings has surfaced. PM Narendra Modi meets people outside his mother's residence in Gandhinagar before leaving for Ahmedabad. Speaking to reporters, PM Narendra Modi urges people to exercise their franchise. "I am fortunate to vote here," adds the PM.
