New Delhi: A big meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Residence on Tuesday in which PM Narendra Modi directed to ensure the efficient return of Indian nationals stranded in Afghanistan. According to sources, Prime Minister Modi said that every minority coming to India will be helped. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and NSA Ajit Doval were also present at the PM-led meeting.
According to sources, PM Modi in the meeting directed all concerned officials to take all necessary measures to ensure the safe evacuation of Indian nationals from Afghanistan in the coming days. According to a senior official, PM Modi also said that India should not only protect its citizens but also provide shelter to Sikh and Hindu minorities who want to come to the country and also provide all possible assistance to us. Our Afghan brothers and sisters who are looking to India for assistance should be helped.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials including Prime Minister Modi's Principal Secretary Dr. PK Mishra, NSA Ajit Doval, and Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon are also said to be present at the meeting. Ambassador Tandon landed in Jamnagar yesterday on a flight from Kabul. Meanwhile, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Tuesday released the numbers of the 24-hour special Afghanistan cell by the Ministry of External Affairs.
