New Delhi: Times Group Chairman Indu Jain passed away on Thursday at the age of 84. She breathed her last in Delhi. In a tweet, Times Now, the Times Group's news channel, called Jain a lifelong spiritual seeker, a leading philanthropist, a distinguished patron of art and a strong supporter of women's rights. She is said to have died of corona virus infection.
PM Modi has condoled the passing away of Indu Jain and said that she will be remembered for her initiatives in the field of community service, her passion for India's progress and keen interest in culture. PM Modi tweeted, "Saddened by the death of Times Group President Indu Jain. She will be remembered for her steps in the field of community service, her passion for India's progress and her keen interest in culture. PM Modi recalled her opportunities to interact with Indu Jain and expressed her condolences to the family.
Indu Jain was also the founder of the Times Foundation for welfare activities and also founded the women's wing of industry lobby FICCI. She was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country's third highest civilian honour, in 2016.
