The current PM Narendra Modi government is constantly promoting the use of electric vehicles. The GST Council, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Satraman, announced a reduction in GST rates on electric vehicles from 12% to 5%, after Narendra Modi's Modi 2.0 announced a reduction in GST rates on electric vehicles during the budget session. Many electric vehicle manufacturing companies are now giving huge discounts to customers. In a straight forward, the reduction in GST has made electric cars and bikes cheaper. Hyundai Kona is India's first fully-electric SUV with prices now cut by Rs 1.58 lakh. Kona Electric has priced at Rs 25.3 lakh, which has now come down to Rs 23.71 lakh. Kona Electric travels 452 km on a one-time full charge. It has a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) for power. The motor generates 136 PS maximum power and peak torque of 40.27kgm. The Kona Electric features a single-speed reduction gear automatic transmission. 

Okinawa Scooters has cut the prices of lead-acid battery-run scooters like Ridge, Praise and Raise from Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,700. The price of Lithium-Ion battery I-Praise and Ridge-Plus has been cut from Rs 3,400 to Rs 8,600. Prices of Okinawa Electric Scooters start at Rs 37,000, which goes up to Rs 1.08 lakh.

Tata Motors has cut the prices of its Tigor electric vehicle by Rs 80,000. The Tata Tigor EV has priced at Rs 12.35 to Rs 12.71 lakh, which has now gone up from Rs 11.58 to Rs 11.92 lakh. These prices are from ex-showroom Mumbai. The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a battery of 16.2 kWh. The 3-phase AC induction motor generates 40bhp at 4500 rpm and a peak talk of 105Nm at 2500rpm. The electric car offers a range of 142 km on a single charge. Bengaluru's two-wheeled electric vehicle manufacturer has reduced the prices of its scooters. On-road prices of the Ather 340 and Ather 450 have been cut by up to Rs 9000. The Bengaluru on-road price of the Ather 340 has gone up to Rs 1.02 lakh. Whereas, the Ather 450 Bengaluru on-road price has gone up to Rs 1.13 lakh.
