PM Narendra Modi meets NEC CM Dr Nobuhiro Endo in Tokyo

JAPAN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nobuhiro Endo, the CEO of NEC Corporation, a Japanese multinational information technology and electronics conglomerate, on Monday.

Modi emphasised India's reform process. PMO India tweeted, "He spoke on prospects in areas such as digital learning, FinTech, infrastructure, and logistics networks."

The Prime Minister praised NEC's contribution to India's telecommunications industry, particularly its work on the OFC projects between Chennai and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) and Kochi and the Lakshadweep Islands (KLI), according to MEA.  He also mentioned the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which offers investment prospects.

"They addressed different reforms being implemented to make doing business in India easier, notably in industrial growth, taxation, and labour," according to the statement. "They also discussed potential in India in new and developing technology," Endo said, referring to smart cities, emerging technologies, and an innovative attempt to increase Japanese language study in India.
