New Delhi: On 21 December, PM Narendra Modi has called all the ministers with report cards at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Road. On this day, all ministers will give a presentation to PM Modi. According to sources, removal action can be taken against the ministers who have performed poorly. In view of this important meeting, speculation of the much-awaited expansion of the Modi cabinet is gaining momentum.

Sources said that Home Minister and party president Amit Shah, Organization General Secretary BL Santosh will also be present in this meeting. PM Modi wants to know what is the status of his priority schemes in which ministry. Ministers of weak performing ministries may be removed. Apart from this, new faces can be given opportunities by taking some portfolios from the ministers running several big ministries simultaneously.

Even after 6 months of swearing-in on 30 May 2019, the Modi cabinet has not expanded. In November 2014, the 6 months after the formation of the government in May, PM Modi made his first cabinet expansion. PM Narendra Modi was sworn in on May 30 this year with 57 ministers. According to the rules, a maximum of 81 ministers can be made up of 15% of the total members of the Lok Sabha. The previous government had 70 ministers in the Modi government.
