Ahmedabad: The BJP seems to be heading towards a historic victory in Gujarat. According to the counting trends, the BJP has won 55 seats out of 182 and is leading in 102. If these trends summarize into results, the BJP will break the Congress' record of winning 149 seats in 1985. According to sources, Bhupendra Patel will take oath as chief minister on December 11 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The Congress had won 149 seats in the 1985 elections under the leadership of Madhavsinh Solanki. The BJP will break the record of the congress' biggest victory if it crosses the 150 mark. In the 2002 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 127 seats. Interestingly, during the election campaign, PM Modi had said that Bhupendra will break Narendra's record. In the trends revealed so far, PM Modi's prediction seems to be coming true. According to the trends, the BJP is leading in 157 seats out of the total 182 seats in the Gujarat Assembly. At the same time, Congress is leading in 11 seats and has won 6 seats and Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in 3 seats and has won two seats. Whereas, independents and other candidates seem to be proceeding in 3 seats.  

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a major setback in the Gujarat elections, as all three big leaders of AAP lost the election. AAP's CM candidate Ishudan Gadhvi, the party's state unit president Gopal Italia and Patidar leader Alpesh Kathiria have lost elections from their respective seats. However, Kejriwal's party, which claims to form the government in Gujarat, has won two seats and is leading in three.
