New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation at 4 PM today over the removal of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Quoting sources, prime minister in his address will inform the people of the country about the government's decision to remove the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divide the state into two union territories.

It is worth mentioning here that President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday allowed the repeal of the provisions of Section 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, the Union Government passed a bill to divide Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh) and remove the provisions of Section 370 by a majority in both the Houses. The bill will now be implemented legally after getting permission from the President.

The official notification says, "In exercise of the powers conferred by clause 3 of section 370 read with clause 1 of Section 370 of the Constitution of India, the President declares on the recommendation of Parliament that all clauses of the said article shall not apply from 6th August 2019. , except for clause 1.
