New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a major meeting with chief ministers of all states on Thursday amid the growing corona outbreak across the country. The meeting will be held today at 4.30 pm through video conferencing. This is PM Modi's second major meeting in a week amid record cases of corona coming every day. The meeting is taking place at a time when about 2 lakh new corona cases are being registered every day in the country.
Restrictions like night curfew and a ban on crowd gathering have been imposed in several states following the spurt in new cases due to Omicron variants. Earlier last week, PM Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting to review the situation in corona in the country. During the visit, he had taken stock of the preparedness of health services, the status of the corona vaccination campaign and the impact of the Omicron variant. During the meeting, the Health Secretary had also given detailed information on the increase in corona cases all over the world.
A total of more than 1.94 lakh new cases of coronavirus were registered across the country on Wednesday and about 400 deaths were also recorded. Corona is witnessing the highest outbreak in Delhi and Maharashtra, where record new cases are being registered every day. It is feared that the total number of new cases may cross 2 lakh on Thursday.
