New Delhi: June 25 is remembered as a Black Day in India's democracy. On this day in 1975 that the then Pm Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency. Today, it has been 44 years since the emergency was imposed in the country's democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders are tweeting on the completion of 44 years of emergency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the state of emergency by putting a video clip. The video shared on Twitter by PM Modi also shows a clip of Parliament's speech. On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has written that democracy was killed for political interests on this day. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted on the day.

Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter that "on this day in 1975, democracy of the country was killed only for its own political interests. Their fundamental rights were taken away from the countrymen, the newspapers were locked. Millions of patriots corrected many tortures to restore democracy. I salute all those fighters. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also tweeted that the day should be remembered as maintaining the integrity of the country institutions.
