New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Thursday (September 8, 2022) unveiled the grand and attractive statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose located near India Gate in the national capital. This unveiling ceremony was very special. Netaji's statue was unveiled amid the tune of the traditional song 'Kadam, Kadam Badhaye Ja' from 'Azad Hind Fauj.'

Let me tell you that it was Netaji who formed the 'Azad Hind Fauj' before independence against British rule. On the occasion of unveiling the statue of such a brave freedom fighter, a cultural program was presented by 500 dancers from every corner of India to showcase the spirit of unity in superior India and diversity. Addressing the unveiling ceremony, PM Modi said, ''Today a new inspiration and energy has been received. Today we are adding new colours to the picture of tomorrow except yesterday. You see this new aura everywhere. This is the aura of confidence of new India. From today, Kingsway was erased forever. I congratulate the countrymen for getting rid of another identity of slavery. Today, a statue of National Hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose has been inaugurated near India Gate. Where there was once a statue of George V, today the statue of Netaji has been established at the same place and the life of modern and strong India has been specified.''

Prime Minister Modi further said that with independence, our great heroes were forgotten and their symbols were ignored. He recalled that he had the opportunity to visit Subhas Babu's house on his birth anniversary, where he felt his infinite energy. PM Modi said that today the country is trying to show the same energy of Netaji as the path of the whole country. PM Modi said that Netaji's statue on the 'Kartavyapath' will become its medium.
