New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on January 25 personally wrote to several personalities including former South African player Jonty Rhodes, West Indies tempestuous batsman Chris Gayle, renowned Israeli author Ashley Rindsberg, German women's cricket team captain Anuradha Dodaballapur, Canadian professor Gaid Saud, American educationist Vivek Wadhwa, Trinidad's famous actor Mackel Montano and wished them the Indian Republic Day. At the same time, these celebrities also thanked PM Modi on Twitter for his greeting letter.

In his letter to Rhodes, PM Modi wished him a happy Republic Day and said that this year is a more special republic day. India is celebrating 75 years of independence from colonial rule. "I decided to write to you and some other friends of India with a sense of gratitude for your affection for India and hope that you will continue to work closely with our country as well as our people.'' PM Modi further said, "Over the years, you have established a deep connection with India and its culture. This special bond really reflected, when you named your daughter after this great country. You are indeed a special ambassador of strong ties between our countries.''
