NEW DELHI: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary today, January 23, and said he will be recollected for his fierce resistance to the colonial rule.
In order to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of the founder of Azad Hind Fauj, the Modi government named the day "Parakram Diwas" in 2021. "Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recall his unparalleled contribution to India's history. In a tweet, Modi stated that the man would be remembered for his tenacious opposition to colonial tyranny.
We are attempting to realise his vision for India, much influenced by his ideas, he said.
With his unique leadership quality, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose organised the people and launched an armed movement for freedom by forming 'Azad Hind Fauj'. The whole country salutes his courage and struggle.
In a Hindi tweet, Union Minister AmitShah wrote, "Today, remembering Netaji on his 126th birth anniversary, I congratulate the countrymen on 'Parakram Diwas."
