PM shares thoughts on 76th anniversary of Quit India Movement

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, tweeted, “Mahatma Gandhi’s clarion call galvanized the nation. Here is another official report indicating the spread of the Quit India movement and the wide-scale participation.” He then posted a picture of a document that read the summary of the entire movement.

In his another tweet, the PM Modi posted pictures of a report from the colonial era, which seems to be filed by the colonial administrators. With the picture, he wrote, “It does not read well. Pages from a report filed by the  show how through the Quit India Movement, Bapu shook the foundations of colonial rule and accelerated our journey towards freedom.”

In his yet another tweet, Narendra Modi posted a poem that was written by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Describing the poem and informing about it, he wrote, “Thanks to the National Archives, I found some fascinating nuggets of history relating to the Quit India Movement. Here is a poem on Quit India by Atal Ji. This was published in 1946 in 'Abhyudaya' a newspaper associated with Shri Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji.”

Prime Minister Modi also shared a video and remembered all the men and women who participated in the Quit India Movement.

Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India tweeted, “On 76th anniversary of Quit India Day, we gratefully remember the countless soldiers of liberty who sacrificed their all for our Independence. Looking forward to hosting our freedom fighters at an At-Home reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening”.
