New Delhi: On the 400th Parkash Purab of Sikh guru Tegh Bahadur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the Red Fort on Thursday, April 21, the Culture Ministry announced Monday.

On the occasion, PM Modi will also issue a commemorative coin and postal stamp.

The ministry announced that 400 'ragis' (Sikh musicians) will perform in a 'Shabad Kirtan' to commemorate the anniversary.  The Ministry of Culture will host the event in association with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

The celebrations will include chief ministers from a number of states as well as a number of notable figures from across the subcontinent and internationally, according to the statement.

As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a programme commemorating Sikh guru Tegh Bahadur's 400th Parkash Purab (birth anniversary) is being held.

In the year 1621, Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru, was born in Amritsar. In 1675, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb had him killed in Delhi. The famous Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, located near the Red Fort, was constructed on the site of Guru Tegh Bahadur's execution.
