MUMBAI: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 38,800 crores in Mumbai today.
Offering seamless urban mobility has been one of the key spotlight areas of the Prime Minister. In line with this, the PM is set to dedicate the nation Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A & 7, worth around Rs 12,600 crores.
While metro line 7, which connects Andheri E and Dahisar E, is around 16.5 km long, metro line 2A, which connects Dahisar E and DN Nagar, is about 18.6 km long.
In 2015, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation for these lines.
The National Common Mobility Card and the MUMBAI 1 Mobile App will also be unveiled by the Prime Minister (Mumbai 1). The software will make travelling easier, can be displayed on Metro Station entry gates, and facilitates digital payment to purchase tickets through UPI.
The National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai 1) will first be utilised on metro routes, although it can also be used on regional trains and small buses. The NCMC card will enable speedy, contactless, digital transactions, streamlining the process with a seamless experience and eliminating the need for commuters to carry numerous cards or cash.
The Prime Minister will officially lay the foundatoin for the construction of seven sewage treatment facilities, which are expected to cost about Rs 17,200 crores. Malad, Bhandup, Versova, Ghatkopar, Bandra, Dharavi, and Worli will also receive these sewage treatment facilities. Their aggregate capacity will be close to 2,460 MLD.
