SEOUL: South Korean Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum  reportedly/offically met with his Qatari counterpart on Sunday in the Middle Eastern country to discuss cooperation in energy supply, agriculture, health, and other sectors.

The talks between Kim and Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani took place as Seoul aims to strengthen energy cooperation with Doha amid concerns that Russia-Ukraine conflict will disrupt energy supply networks, as per reports. Qatar buys more than a quarter of South Korea's liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Aside from energy cooperation, the two parties talked on health care, education, and agriculture, as Doha attempts to expand its industry beyond the energy sector.

"In light of food security, Qatar has expressed special interest in the smart farm, a new sector that South Korea has pioneered," Kim told reporters following the talks. "We will turn it over to the next government to review as one of its primary duties." Kim has previously paid a courtesy call to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
