PNB Fraud: Abhishek Singhvi quashes Sitharaman's allegations on his family

Quashing the allegations against his family, Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi has threatened Defence minister to file a defamation case against her. Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier accused Abhishek Singhvi’s wife Anita Singhvi to be associated with the fraudster Nirav Modi’s jewellery brand.

Abhishek Singhvi said that neither he nor his family members are associated with Nirav Modi and his jewellery brand in any way. He termed the allegations as “ill-considered, ignorant and patently false”. He was speaking at a press conference.

“Nirav Modi’s company was a tenant of a Kamla Mills property owned by Adwait Holdings in which my wife and sons are directors. Adwait Holdings owns a commercial property at Parel, as it does elsewhere, which was rented by Firestone many years ago. Neither Adwait, nor my family has any interest in Nirav Modi or Firestone. Last August Firestone gave the notice to quit tenancy and vacated Kamla Mills’s property in December 2017,” Singhvi clarified in a statement.

“I intend to file a civil and defamation case against the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her colleagues who are spreading the defamatory allegations, I also intend to take action against the sections of media who are spreading the same,” he said to the press.
