Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three people on Saturday, Gokulnath Shetty, former PNB deputy manager, single window manager Manoj Kharat, and Nirav Modi’s authorized signatory Hemant Bhat. The three have been arrested in connection with the PNB fraud case of Rs. 11,400 crore.

The three have been sent in police custody until March 03.

“We have arrested Gokulnath Shetty, the retired Deputy Manager with the bank, Manoj Kharat, who was employed as Single Window Operator at the bank and Hemant Bhat, the authorised signatory for the Nirav Modi group on Saturday morning,” said an officer.

The Enforcement Directorate has so far seized assets worth Rs.5500 crores in raids conducted across India. Several raids are being conducted in the country.

The arrested PNB officials were presented before a special CBI court on the same day in the evening after the arrest. CBI demanded 14-day custody of all the three as the investigation is in the nascent stages and several documents are to be recovered yet.

Leaders from the opposition and the ruling party have already started the blame game since the fraud came in light for the first time. The blame game got worse since then with the leaders accusing each other of the scam and trying to prove the same.

Manoj Kharat's lawyer said he has no role in the case and will file a bail application. He was just a clerk and typed the letters due to pressure from Gokulnath Shetty.
