In a move to embrace sustainability, Punjab National Bank (PNB) has officially launched 'PNB Palaash', an eight-month environmental initiative. This comprehensive campaign aims to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies through various measures, including energy and resource conservation, paper reduction, waste management, and streamlined digital processes, as stated by PNB.
Recognizing the importance of integrating sustainability into all aspects of life, Atul Kumar Goel, the Managing Director of PNB, emphasized that undertaking environmentally friendly initiatives not only aligns with the bank's corporate social responsibility but also presents significant opportunities for business growth. The primary objective of 'PNB Palaash' is to actively contribute to conservation efforts, promote the adoption of sustainable practices, and encourage active employee engagement, he added.
Under this initiative, PNB has committed its one lakh plus employees to plant a minimum of two saplings each. The campaign encompasses various themes such as digi branches, green data centers, electrical vehicle finance, green project finance, recycling camps, tree plantation drives, paper conservation drives, energy conservation Olympiads, and more. It is in line with the RBI's vision of sustainable finance and the sixth iteration of Enhanced Access and Service Excellence (EASE 6.0), an initiative by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), according to the bank.
