Patna: A shocking report of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has come to the fore in the case of death due to spurious liquor in Bihar's Saran district. The report claimed the death of 77 people. Along with this, the matter of loss of eyesight of many people has also been mentioned in the NHRC report. While only 42 people were killed in the government figures. After the NHRC report came out, questions are being raised on the district administration and the government. Let us tell you that earlier in this case, the district administration had been denying the matter of death due to spurious liquor.

Let us tell you that there was a lot of uproar in Bihar's Saran district after the spurious liquor case. The BJP had termed liquor ban in Bihar as a failure and demanded resignation from Nitish Kumar. There was a lot of uproar in the Bihar Legislative Assembly regarding this. Then Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Sinha termed it as a mass massacre and demanded compensation to the family of the deceased. After this Chhapra's MP Rajip Pratap Rudy had demanded an inquiry into the case of death due to spurious liquor. Then the NHRC team had reached here to investigate.

The team of the Commission stayed here on 21, 22 and 23 December and investigated the matter. After which it has been revealed in the investigation report that 77 people died due to drinking poisonous liquor here. The dead bodies of 32 people were burnt without postmortem. Most of those who died are farmers, laborers, drivers, tea sellers, hawkers. All of them belong to backward castes. The members of NHRC who reached to investigate have also said that they did not get any cooperation during the investigation in Chhapra. He collected information in this regard by talking to the victim's family.
