Chandigarh: Sandeep Bareta, the main accused and mastermind of the famous Bargari sacrilege incident in Faridkot district of Punjab, has been arrested by the police from Bengaluru airport. He is a member of the National Committee of Dera Sacha Sauda Sirsa. Sandeep Bareta Bargari is a named accused in all the three sacrilege incidents. The court has also declared Sandeep Bareta along with two other committee members Harsh Dhuri and Pradeep Kler as absconders in these cases. Meanwhile, the Faridkot district police team has left for Bengaluru.

According to the report, this case of sacrilege in Faridkot's Bargari is of October 12, 2015. This year Sri Guru Granth Sahib was desecrated at Bargari in Faridkot. After this, Sikh organizations protested in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan. On October 14, the police lathi-charged in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan to control the protesters.   

However, the protesters were not ready to back down. Therefore, the police opened fire in Behbal Kalan, in which two Sikh youths lost their lives. Along with this, many protesters were injured in the violent clash in Kotkapura. The SIT formed by the Punjab government was earlier probing the matter. However, later the case was handed over to the CBI.
