Thane, Near Padgha toll naka on Mumbai-Nashik Highway, two persons were arrested for transporting cattle meat illegally. Police said, that a total of a total of 265 kg of meat was seized from them when they were transporting it to Mumbai from Nashik in a jeep .

Convicts were arrested by district Rural Police.

As per the police, the duo, residents of suburban Govandi in Mumbai, did not posses licence for slaughtering, transporting or sale of meat.

They were charged under IPC section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle etc) rw 34 (common intention), relevant sections of Animal Preservation Act-1995 and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act-1960.
