Vijayawada: Vijayawada police arrested four old criminals in the city on Monday for being involved in transporting ganja and committing other crimes in Vijayawada commissionarate limits. The group was accused of transporting ganja and other crimes. The police confiscated contraband, gold, and bikes from the accused. The arrest of the four accused was made by the Vijayawada police. The police seized gold worth Rs 1.74 lakh, 6 kilograms of ganja and 2 bikes. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) B Rajakumari produced the four accused before the media at the Command Control Room on Monday. The DCP said the accused were mainly involved in ganja peddling and robbed gold chains and lifting motorbikes parked in the city.

During checking, the police suspected the behavior of four persons traveling on two bikes and took them into custody. Investigation revealed that the accused had cases registered under their name. The accused were allegedly a part of a gang and have three other associates. The accused were identified as Tummala Manoj Kumar, Govinda Rajulu, Tummala Vigneswara Rao, Tummala Rajesh. The accused were allegedly involved in buying and selling ganja. According to the Deccan Chronicle's report, the arrested were involved in chain snatching cases in Vijayawada, Kankipadu, Sattpalli in Telangana. They were also involved in stealing bikes at Nuzvid, Krishna district. The police team was formed to nab the remaining three members of the gang, who are absconding.
