Muzaffarpur: Police have seized a large consignment of liquor in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The police have arrested the inter-state liquor smugglers with liquor worth 50 lakhs and cash of Rs 7 lakh 65 thousand. Late on Wednesday night, the police of Sakra police station, busting the inter-state foreign liquor smugglers riding Scorpio in Pilkhi of Muraul block, arrested several persons. 7 lakh 65 thousand cash has also been recovered from the smugglers for the sale of liquor.

On the spot of the criminals, a truck was caught on the road going from Mehmadpur Kothi to Titra Aashnand village, in which liquor was loaded. Four hundred cartons of liquor have been seized from the truck. The value of the seized liquor is said to be around Rs 50 lakh. The police brought the truck, Scorpio and recovered foreign liquor to the police station.

Regarding this action, DSP Manoj Pandey of East Zone of the district said that the police had received a complaint about the activities of liquor smugglers. Thereafter, four liquor smugglers riding Scorpio and a laborer were arrested near Pilkhi bridge by siege. The officer said that due to the search, 7 lakh 65 thousand rupees kept by selling liquor in Scorpio have also been confiscated. During interrogation, it was found that a truck laden with liquor was being evacuated to a nearby village. Farom there the police team reached from Mehmadpur Kothi on the road leading to Titra Aashnand village, where the truck was also caught near a brick kiln. However, the truck driver and the laborer who was unloading liquor fled from the spot when the news of the arrival of the police came. Liquor was being smuggled on the truck under the guise of organic manure. Liquor was hidden under the manure.
