Police in Basti district have taken three criminals into custody claiming to have solved the triple murder case and asalaharah used in the killings have also been recovered. Talking to media on Sunday, Inspector General of Police, Anil Kumar Rai and Superintendent of Police Hemraj Meena said that three persons were found dead on NH-28 in the cantonment police station area of the district on Saturday.

It has been revealed that the three were identified in the police investigation as potato businessman Mohammad Aslam, truck driver Rajkumar Gautam and Khulasi (co-driver) Sonu Maurya. The police have registered the case in the Cantonment station and the search for the killings has been started. The IG and SP said that Ajit Singh alias Kallu, Arun Kumar Yadav alias Golu and Sheel Kumar Maurya alias Shealu have been taken into custody in the case, including two boats and one Kaushambidistrict.

According to police, the culprits had also looted six lakh rupees in the truck by killing three including potato traders and truck drivers. Asalaharah and mobile users in the murder of the accused have been recovered from the possession. It has been revealed that the truck owner Manoj Kumar, a resident of Barra police station in Kanpur Nagar, had written to the police that his truck driver Gautam, co-driver Sonu Maurya was going to Parsauni in Bihar from Kanpur Mandi on January 6 and was murdered in the Cantonment police station area of Basti while coming back from there with an empty train.
