Police House Loot Case: K'taka Police detain BSF ex-commandant

CHIKKABALLAPUR: Police announced on Friday that a former BSF commandant had been detained in connection with robbery at a policeman's house.

The robbers had opened fire during the incident injuring the  son of a policeman in Chikkaballapur district of the state, which was taken place on November 15.

The robbery's mastermind turned out to be an ex-army guy from Uttar Pradesh named Virendra Singh Thakur. In connection with the investigation, the police also detained Haidar, his 25-year-old adoptive son.

A fortnight ago, a group of interstate thieves from Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh shot the policeman's kid before robbing and looting his home.

In the Paresandra village, the gang forced their way into the home of Assistant Police Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narayana Swamy, shot his son, and stole gold jewellery and money.

Sharath Narayanaswamy, the son of ASI Narayanaswamy, was shot three times by the robbers. His condition is still critical and he was admitted to the local hospital.

According to the investigation, Haidar opened fire, and the former BSF commandant was the mastermind. For ten days, the police squad was stationed in Uttar Pradesh in order to apprehend the suspects.

As part of the investigation, the police had previously detained three suspects: Arif (35), of Bahiram City, Bijnor District, Uttar Pradesh; Jumshed Khan (27), of Chintaman Khate Village, Milak Taluk, Rampur District; and Pathan Mohammad Harris Khan (30), of Kadiri Town, Satya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh.

Three firearms, 46 bullets, Rs.3.41 lakh in cash, a gold mangalya chain, 21 silver items, and the vehicle used in the crime were all confiscated by the police from the accused. Hunt is going on for the other accused in the case.
