Police send legal notice to Twitter India MD over viral video of Loni case

The dispute between the government and microblogging social media site Twitter is growing. While Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has been making a sustained statement against Twitter, Ghaziabad police have also registered a FIR against Twitter regarding the viral video of an elderly man. In the latest development, Ghaziabad police have now sent a notice to Manish Maheshwari, Managing Director, Twitter India. Sending the notice, Ghaziabad police have asked twitter india MD to come to Loni police station within a week and record the statement.

Ghaziabad police have sent the notice to Manish Maheshwari under CRPF 160. In the notice, Ghaziabad police have told Twitter about the FIR registered in Loni that some people tweeted communal hate, but Twitter did not take any action/cognizance. At the same time, hate articles in the country/region, society have been further promoted, anti-social articles were allowed to go viral continuously.

Notice sent by Ghaziabad police to Twitter: In the notice, the police said, "FIR is registered so you have to take your statement, appear at Loni police station within a week of receiving the letter and record it."
