Kolkata: Niti Aayog Vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar expects West Bengal cm and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee to participate in the Commission's Governing Council meeting on June 15.  Kumar said on Saturday that, "we have invited him with all due respect and I still hope he will accept my personal invitation and attend the June 15 meeting to give his views for further reform of the Niti Aayog."

Mamata Banerjee has refused to attend the meeting under PM Modi, saying it is a useless exercise as the Commission does not have any kind of right to support the schemes of the States. Modi will lead the fifth meeting of the Governing Council of Niti Aayog. The meeting will be churning out various issues related to the development of the country.

Mamata has also written to PM Modi informing her not to attend the meeting. Mamata wrote in the letter, "the Niti Aayog does not have the economic right and has no powers to support the schemes of the territories." As such, the Commission meeting is a unmean exercise. "
