Kolkata: In a shocking incident on Saturday (1st June), a BJP worker fell victim to a brutal murder at the hands of a group of 10-11 Trinamool Congress (TMC) assailants in Chandpur village, located in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The gruesome attack occurred amidst the 7th Phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The victim, identified as Hafizul Sheikh, had recently aligned himself with the BJP. Reports suggest that the assailants first shot Sheikh before gruesomely beheading him.

Visuals capturing the aftermath depict Sheikh's decapitated body lying unattended at the roadside. Speaking to the media, the victim's brother revealed chilling details of the incident, stating, "Sheikh was engrossed in a game of carrom when an influential politician from Chandpur village, affiliated with the Trinamool Congress, along with his cohorts, arrived and fatally shot my brother."

"Heartbreakingly, they proceeded to sever his head and absconded with it. This heinous act unfolded in broad daylight. The perpetrators, identified as criminals and anti-social elements, did not stop there. They proceeded to target the homes of other BJP workers, launching bomb attacks," he added.

Naming TMC goons Qasim, Sohoj, Nasim, Sobuj, Ali, Bandu, and others as perpetrators, Sheikh's brother disclosed that the victim had recently transitioned from being a member of the CPIM to joining the BJP. Describing his brother as a virtuous individual, he urged for a CBI investigation into the matter.
