Bhind: Polling for the first phase of the three-tier panchayat in Madhya Pradesh began at 7 am on Saturday. Polling is being held in 26 thousand 902 polling stations spread over 8702 gram panchayats spread over 115 development blocks spread over 52 districts in the first phase in the state. More than a dozen polling booths were reported to have been stoned in Mihona area of Bhind district. Some policemen were also injured.   

In Madhya Pradesh, the situation of panchayat elections in Bhind district is tense. Anti-social elements have pelted stones at dozens of polling booths including Mihona area. The rioters pelted stones at a police team at polling booth number 148-149 of Asnehat panchayat of Bhind Mihona. SI Amit Sikarwar was injured in the stone pelting and suffered a head injury. A controversy had started over bogus voting. There was a backward class seat in the panchayat. Due to this, supporters of the two sarpanch candidates clashed with each other over voting and started pelting stones. SI Amit Sikarwar was injured.  

Similarly, at booth no. 27, 28, 29 and 30 of Lapawah Panchayat of Lahar in Gwalior, at 10 a.m., there was a lot of violence among the supporters of the candidates. Then, there was also aerial fire. A stampede-like situation prevailed at the polling station. The police controlled these situations. There is enthusiasm among voters at the same polling stations. There are long queues at many centres. Women had also queued up since morning to vote. Polling in rural areas of Bhopal, Gwalior, Raisen, Vidisha and Shajapur began at 7 am. There are 22 thousand 915 normal and 3 thousand 989 sensitive polling stations in the state. Elaborate security arrangements have been made at these centres.
