Pollution on education, schools closed in 4 districts of Haryana

New Delhi: The Haryana government has directed all schools in Gurugram, Sonepat, Faridabad and Jhajjar to be closed till further orders over dangerous air pollution. All private and government schools in these districts will remain closed till further orders. All construction activities have been completely banned. There will be a complete ban on the operation of diesel generator sets.Earlier, schools were closed in these four districts, but after the pollution situation returned to normal, they were ordered to be reopened.

However, orders issued by the additional chief secretary of the environment department now have asked for closure of schools. Guidelines have been issued by the NGT to various State Governments to reduce air pollution following which haryana environment department has banned construction work in 14 districts falling in NCR to reduce pollution levels. The Environment Department in its order has clarified that plumbers, electricity and carpenters will continue in these districts.

In view of the supreme court's tough stand, the Additional Chief Secretary has issued separate orders to improve air quality in 14 districts falling in NCR. At the same time, dcs and other officials of the respective districts have been asked to strictly implement these directions.
