Partha Chatterjee, who is known to be a close ally of Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, did not respond to media queries in this regard. Partha Chatterjee is the Education Minister of the State and he is also in charge of legislative matters. According to sources, the name of Partha Chatterjee was revealed during the CBI inquiry into the Saradha scam by Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP and party spokesperson Derek O'Brien on August 9.

The source said that Partha Chatterjee's name had come up during the interrogation of O'Brien last week. We came to know his name regarding the alleged funding of the party newspaper, Wake Bangla. Incidentally, Chatterjee is the editor of this newspaper and O'Brien is its publisher. The issue had created a lot of confusion in Bengal politics. State CM Mamata Banerjee wants to intimidate the Modi government at the Centre by misusing the CBI. The day-to-day issue between the two sides is inter-dipped.
