Bollywood film actress Shilpa Shetty's husband and noted businessman Raj Kundra has been released on bail today (September 21) in connection with the production of adult films. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale on Monday released Kundra on a bond of Rs 50,000. Kundra was taken into custody two months ago in the case. Kundra's aide and co-offender In the case, Ryan Thorp was also given the bail.
The advocate of the same Raj Kundra said the 46-year-old businessman was kept in judicial custody in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail. Raj Kundra has been booked under the Indian Penal Code, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY and other legal provisions. Kundra had filed a bail plea before the court claiming that there was no evidence against him in the supplementary chargesheet filed by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police in the case.
He had also claimed in the petition that there was no evidence of his active involvement in the manufacture of alleged suspicious pornographic material and that he was being made a scapegoat in the case. The crime branch investigating the case had recently filed supplementary charge sheets in the court against Kundra and three other criminals. Malwani police raided a bungalow in Malad West and busted a case of obscene material being dumped on the app where obscene material was being shot in a bungalow.
