Postal Deptt Assist Senior Pensioners with Digital Life Certificates

NEW DELHI: The Postal Department will soon offer doorstep assistance to senior pensioners for submitting their digital life certificates (DLCs),  an official statement issued on Friday, September 13, reads. This initiative is part of the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare's (DoPPW) DLC Campaign 3.0, set to run from November 1 to November 30, 2024, in district headquarters and major cities nationwide.

A preparatory meeting was held on September 12, 2024, to plan the DLC Campaign 3.0. Key participants included V Srinivas, Secretary of DoPPW, Sanjay Sharan, Director General of Postal Services, Rajul Bhatt, Deputy Director General of Posts, and R Viswesvaran, MD & CEO of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).

District post offices will work with pensioner welfare associations, pension disbursing banks, and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to facilitate the campaign. Pensioners can submit their Jeevan Pramaan (DLC) at district post offices using face authentication through an Android smartphone.

In addition, the Postal Department will offer doorstep services to help senior pensioners meet DLC submission requirements. The campaign will be widely publicized through banners, social media, SMS, and short videos.

UIDAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will provide technical support during the campaign. This collaboration aims to enhance digital empowerment for pensioners and improve their quality of life.

In the previous DLC Campaign 2.0 held in 2023, 1.45 crore pensioners participated across 100 cities.

About Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners

The Digital Life Certificate (DLC), also known as Jeevan Pramaan, is a biometric-enabled digital service designed for pensioners. This service is available to pensioners from central or state government bodies, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, or any other government organization where the pension disbursing agency supports DLC. Instead of visiting the disbursing office to submit a physical life certificate, pensioners can now use Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication to generate their DLC.

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) is leveraging the extensive postal network of the Department of Posts (DoP) to offer this service directly to pensioners' doorsteps. By integrating with an application managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Government of India, IPPB is facilitating the generation of DLCs in an assisted manner.
