Ahmednagar: In a major incident, posters of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb were waved during a procession in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district. After the video of this incident went viral, the police have registered a case against 4 people under several sections of the IPC. According to a report received, the police officer of Bhingar Camp said on Monday that the procession was taken out in Fakirwada area at 9 am on Sunday.

"Amidst music and dance in the procession, four people were carrying posters of Aurangzeb. The four men have been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code for abetting one community to commit offences against another, hurting religious feelings and other offences. Earlier on Monday, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said such acts will not be condoned. If someone hoists a poster of Aurangzeb, it will not be tolerated. Our revered deities in this country and state are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Strict action will be taken against those who hoist aurangzeb's posters. "

NCP's Maharashtra unit president Jayant Patil said the state government should take appropriate steps to maintain law and order. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Ambadas Danve alleged that the government makes big claims of strict action when such incidents come to light, but fails to take action. CM Eknath Shinde had recently changed the name of Ahmednagar to 'Ahilyadevi Holkar Nagar'.
