New Delhi: Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has acquitted 4 accused including Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni in the Prabhat Gupta murder case. The High Court, while rejecting the petition of the UP government, has kept the decision of the trial court in which Teni was acquitted. Along with Ajay Mishra, the court has also acquitted co-accused Subhash Mama, Shashi Bhushan Pinky and Rakesh Dalu in this case.

Prabhat Gupta was shot dead in the year 2000 in Lakhimpur Kheri district of UP. Prabhat's father had accused Ajay Mishra alias Teni of this murder. Although the lower court acquitted Tenney in the year 2004 due to lack of evidence. Against this decision, the state government moved the High Court and now the court has upheld the decision of the sessions court and acquitted Teni.

In this 23-year-old case, Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Om Prakash Shukla of Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court gave the verdict and rejected the petition of the state government. Student leader Prabhat Gupta was murdered near his house in Tikonia area. Tenni was made accused of this. There was an allegation on Tenni that Tenni had an altercation with Prabhat Gupta regarding the panchayat elections and because of this, along with 3 others, he killed student leader Prabhat Gupta.
