Pradhan appeals for amicable settlement restriction on the height of Goddess Durga in Cuttack

Union Education Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dharmendra Pradhan has appealed to various puja committees and the state government for an amicable solution regarding the ban on the height of the idol of Goddess Durga in Cuttack.

On this matter, The Union Minister tweeted on Tuesday that the historic city of Cuttack in Odisha has a special niche for festivals.  It was a  few days ago, that a controversy arose regarding Durga Puja. The discussion and agitation over the height of the idol and the rituals of worship has been going on for several days. There is a difference of viewpoint between the state government and the organizing committees. He expressed hope for organizing the puja ceremony in a peaceful manner. The Union Minister said that the cases of corona are decreasing continuously for some time. He expressed the hope that it should be resolved peacefully through mutual discussion.

In multiple tweets, the Union Minister said, “Festivals have a special place in Cuttack, the historic city of Odisha. A few days ago, a controversy erupted over the Durga Puja celebrations. Discussions and agitations on the height of the idol and the rituals of worship are continuing since days.”  The second tweet goes on to read: “ It seems the Covid positive cases have declined in the state. The stakeholders should find out a peaceful way to observe Dussera after mutual discussions,” the Union Minister hoped.
