NEW DELHI: Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister,  took potshots at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and deputy Manish Sisodia for featuring in the New York Times. The minsiter also urged both the ministers to not hide but show the real state of Delhi’s schools.  He was speaking at BT's India@100 summit.

In the backdrop of Pradhan's remarks is a much-discussed NYT article that detailed the AAP government's approach to education in the nation's capital and featured a photo of Sisodia visiting classrooms.

Soon after, in connection with alleged anomalies in the Delhi government's Excise Policy 2021–2022, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at 31 sites, including the residence of the Delhi Deputy CM.
Regarding the Kejriwal governments' approach to education, Pradhan said: "Delhi has three different kinds of schools: government schools, Government of India schools administered through Navodaya Vidyalaya, and private schools. Take a look at these schools' outcomes for classes 10 and 12. When comparing the findings of the two most recent polls, Delhi schools' performance has significantly declined in both the 10th and 12th grades.

The lowest of the poor will receive high-quality education, as will those who can afford to pay out of pocket, according to Pradhan. He also noted that the government had a significant task in providing every Indian kid with an inexpensive, top-quality education.

"I welcome this task," he stated. "We will need to develop novel methods. The challenges facing our educational system include affordability, accessibility, quality, and diversity. This nation must adopt a multifaceted approach." Pradhan went on to say that the new strategy will be driven by a new pedagogy, a smaller curriculum, and the addition of more classes.
