New Delhi: Following his recent India-Pakistan comments, Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Anurag Thakur launched an attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday. On Monday, Abdullah expressed his condolences for the deaths of two police officers in a terror assault in Srinagar and urged the administration to initiate discussions with Pakistan in order to bring peace to the region. Following Abdullah's remark, union ministers and politicians have slammed him for attempting to gain 'political advantage' by pushing for talks with Pakistan.

Following a terrorist incident near a police camp in Zewan, Srinagar, in which two police officers were killed, the National Conference head requested that the Centre undertake discussions with Pakistan in the same way that it does with China. Abdullah has observed about former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee: "Neighbors cannot be changed, but friends can. As a result, we cannot hold conversations until the final bullet has been fired. Both countries must agree to meet for negotiations. It is beneficial to both India and Pakistan, and we can avert harm."

Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister of Sports, too chastised Abdullah for his remarks. "There are some people who question India's actions and want negotiations with Pakistan," Thakur stated in response to the NC leader's interest in peace talks with Pakistan. We were, are, and will always be anti-terrorist." Meanwhile, Thakur criticised Abdullah's remarks on India needing a "bold PM," claiming that India currently has one. "Prime Minister Modi is a capable and powerful leader. He's the one who ordered the surgical strike, according to Thakur.
