NEW DELHI: Pralhad Joshi, the Minister  of Parliamentary Affairs  on Wednesday demanded that action be taken against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his certain “objectionable” comments made in Lok Sabha, and that they be expunged from the records.

The records have already been cleared of some statements made by Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday in the House.
As soon as the House convened for the day,  Joshi brought up the subject, stating that according to parliamentary norms, if one wishes to make accusations against someone, they must first serve a notice.

"The leader of the Congress said a few things yesterday. Those were really offensive and unfounded accusations. He warned Speaker Om Birla that those should be removed and that he should face consequences.

A privilege motion will be brought against Mr. Gandhi for his remarks, according to the minister.

He claimed that although a privilege notification had been delivered, it had not even been validated.

The Speaker, however, indicated he will investigate the situation and make a decision after doing so.
In the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi led a furious opposition attack on the Hindenburg report, alleging that Gautam Adani's spectacular surge in wealth began after the BJP took office in 2014 when he climbed from 609th to the second slot on the global wealthy list.

The treasury benches responded angrily to the Congress leader's comments, with Law Minister Kiren Rijiju urging him to stop making "wild allegations" and to back up his assertions.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a BJP politician, made the accusations against Gandhi outside of Parliament. He claimed that the Gandhi family and the Congress were complicit in "huge frauds" that "tarnished" the nation's reputation.
The Speaker also objected to the Congressman's usage of particular images in the House.

"If you display posters, the BJP will display those featuring the chief minister of Rajasthan (with Adani). These are not matters for the parliament," Birla said.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad termed Gandhi’s allegations “baseless, shameless and reckless charges against an honest PM” saying that the Gandhi family was out on bail in the National Herald issue.  Meanwhile, Union minister Kiren Rijiju,  said “wild allegations” cannot be made without documentary proof.
